Philippa Milnes-Smith

Philippa is assisted by Eleanor Lawlor.

Philippa Milnes-Smith is the agency’s specialist in children’s books and media. Her work ranges from picture books, middle grade fiction and commercial series to ground-breaking illustrated books (including graphic novels) and innovative non-fiction. She is looking for new and diverse talent.

Her wide range of internationally best-selling and award-winning clients include two UK Children’s Laureates – Chris Riddell and Lauren Child – and former Irish Laureate na nÓg Niamh Sharkey. Her work for her clients extends across books, stage, screen, audio, online and live.

Philippa has appeared at many festivals and literary events including the London Book Fair, the International Festival of Literature in Dublin and the Cheltenham Literary Festival. She has also judged a number of writing prizes including the London Writers Award for Spread the Word. She is a past president of the Association of Authors’ Agents and a former chair of the Children’s Book Circle.

Philippa is open to submissions and says: ‘In fiction I am always looking for new and different voices and for exciting storytelling in both words and pictures – and always searching for those children’s books that will be the classics of the future. In factual, I’d like to see work that is both ground-breaking in its perspectives as well as entertaining and accessible for a children’s audience.’
