Christopher Kelly is a historian and classicist. He has written and broadcast widely on all matters Roman, from the Times Literary Supplement to Channel Four's Time Team. His previous books include Ruling the Later Roman Empire and The Roman Empire: A Very Short Introduction (OUP, 2006).

In 2006 he was awarded a Leverhulme Trust Major Research Fellowship, and he is Master of Corpus Christi College Cambridge.

His book Attila The Hun: Barbarian Terror and the Fall of the Roman Empire (Bodley Head, 2008) examines the real story behind this bloodthirsty and near mythical warrior king.
