Jeff Zentner

Jeff Zentner came to writing through music. He started his creative life as a guitarist, eventually becoming a songwriter, and releasing five albums. He has appeared on recordings with Iggy Pop, Nick Cave, Warren Ellis, Thurston Moore, Debbie Harry, Mark Lanegan, and Lydia Lunch, among others and has given a TED talk on creativity. His first novel, The Serpent King (2016) won the 2017 American Library Association’s William C. Morris YA Debut Award which celebrates impressive new voices in young adult literature. As the book continues to grow a wider fanbase of readers and admirers, Jeff Zentner returned to the heart of teenage lives with his YA novel Goodbye Days (2017) about loss and friendship, described by NY Times best-selling author Nicola Yoon as ‘gorgeous, heartbreaking, and ultimately life-affirming‘. His following book Rayne & Delilah’s Midnite Matinee (2019) was described as ‘Outrageously funny…an absolute must-read’ by The Guardian and his most recent book In the Wild Light (2021) was named one of the best books of the year by The New York Times. Jeff Zentner lives in Nashville, Tennessee with his wife and son.
