John Flanagan

John Flanagan is the author of the international best-selling series Ranger’s Apprentice and Brotherband. Having worked previously in advertising and television, he originally started working on the concept in the form of short stories in the 1990’s.  The idea was that they could be used to encourage his 12-year-old son to read – and would also show him that heroes don’t have to be big and strong.

His writing developed and the first Ranger’s Apprentice novel, The Ruins of Gorlan was published in 2005, and since then, the series has built into an international success.  Translated into many languages and with fans worldwide and sales of over seven million copies, the books have featured regularly on the New York Times best-seller list and elsewhere.
