Michael Robotham
Agent(s): Mark Lucas

Before becoming a novelist, Michael Robotham was an investigative journalist working across Britain, Australia and America. He investigated notorious cases such as the serial killer couple Fred and Rosemary West and worked with clinical and forensic psychologists as they helped police investigate complex, psychologically driven crimes. He has also worked as a ghostwriter for prominent figures in the military, the music industry and the worlds of science, sport and psychology – producing an impressive twelve Sunday Times bestsellers, both fiction and non-fiction.

Michael’s debut thriller, The Suspect, sold more than 1 million copies around the world. It is the first of eight novels featuring clinical psychologist Joe O’Loughlin, who faces his own increasing battle with a potentially debilitating disease. Michael has also written five standalone thrillers. In 2015 Life or Death won the prestigious Crime Writers’ Association Gold Dagger Award. A major six part series adaptation of The Secrets She Keeps starring Laura Carmichael aired on BBC 1 in the UK in July 2020. Michael’s latest novel, When You Are Mine introduces Philomena McCarthy, a promising young officer who has defied the odds by joining the Metropolitan Police despite being the daughter of a notorious London gangster. Called to the scene of a domestic assault, she rescues a young woman, Tempe Brown, the girlfriend of a decorated detective. The incident is hushed up, but Phil has unwittingly made a dangerous enemy with powerful friends.

Michael lives in Sydney with his wife and three daughters.
