Monty Halls

Marine Biologist, Explorer And Broadcaster

Monty Halls is a broadcaster, speaker, naturalist, former Royal Marine, marine biologist, travel writer and leadership specialist. His experience covers over two decades of leading teams in some of the most remote environments on earth, presenting wildlife and adventure documentaries, and working with blue chip companies both in the UK and overseas.

In Monty Halls' Great Escape to Beachcomber Cottage (BBC Books, 2009), Monty recreates the simple life of a crofter on the West Coast of Scotland.

Escaping Hitler (Pan Macmillan, 2017) brings together new research, interviews with survivors and Monty's own experience of walking the freedom trails out of occupied Europe during World War II.

His book tie-in with his TV show My Family and the Galapagos  (Headline, 2020) follows Monty and his family as they navigate life on the most important archipelago on the planet and strive to preserve it for generations to come.

His new book, Commando (Ebury 2022) tells the real stories of extraordinary individuals through a period of historic global unrest - from Future Commando forces on high-profile drug busts to Mountain Leaders training across glaciers north of the Arctic Circle; from medics who serve as global first responders in conflict to wounded veterans raising vast sums to support their brethren in the Corps Family. Accompanying a major BBC series on the 40th anniversary of the Falklands War, Commandos is an unforgettable glimpse into a rarified world of danger, drama, and valour.
