Ronnie Thompson
Agent(s): Julian Alexander

Ronnie Thompson is a former Prison Officer having spent 7 years working in some of the UK’s most notorious jails.  During this time he became the youngest person to achieve the positions of Hostage Negotiator, Control and Restraints Instructor and a commander for Operation Tornado (the national riot response team).

He now writes full time and his experiences as a Prison Officer inspired him to write SCREWED: The Truth About Life as a Prison Officer (Headline, 2008) which was published to critical and commercial acclaim, and was made into a motion picture starring James D’Arcy and Noel Clarke. Banged Up  (Headline, 2009) and Knifer (Headline, 2010) are gritty stories of life on the outside of the law, based on true events, told in Ronnie’s characteristically raw and gripping style.

Ronnie has multiple screen-writing, directorial and producer credits. He produced and directed Tower Block in 2012 that starred Sheridan Smith, Russell Tovey and Jack O’Connell. He also wrote and directed I Am Soldier (2014) and The Hatton Garden Job (2017). He has also written three episodes of the long-running soap Hollyoaks (2018).
