Dr Henry Marsh is the leading British neurosurgeon of our generation. Graduating from Oxford, he eventually became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and was the Consultant Neurosurgeon at Atkinson Morley’s/St. George’s for over thirty years. He was the subject of two major documentary films: Your Life in their Hands (BBC, 2003) which won the Royal Television Society Gold Medal and The English Surgeon, which won an Emmy. Awarded a CBE by HM the Queen in 2010. His extraordinary contribution to neurosurgery across the world has been the subject of numerous articles in national and international newspapers.

His two biographies are international bestsellers. Do No Harm was shortlisted for the Costa Biography Award, the Wellcome Book Prize, the Guardian First Book Award, and longlisted for the Samuel Johnson Prize for non-fiction. Admissions was described by The Economist as: “Disarmingly frank storytelling. [Marsh] is, in spite of himself, hugely likeable…his reflections on death and dying equal those in Atul Gawande’s excellent Being Mortal.”
