Alice: Curiouser and Curiouser in Tokyo
Illustration, Books

The V&A exhibit Alice: Curiouser and Curiouser is travelling internationally and currently resident at the Mori Arts Centre in Tokyo. It is made up of artwork and media that explores the text’s beginnings, adaptations and reinterpretations since its first publication 157 years ago.

The exhibition features work from Chris Riddell, who has published illustrated versions of Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland (Macmillan 2020) and Through The Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There (Macmillan 2021). Chris has previously talked about how he was inspired by John Tenniel, the illustrator of the first published edition of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, and how he also draws inspiration from more modern sources like Björk and Lady Gaga in his work on the series.

The exhibition will be on display in Tokyo until the 10th October 2022, before travelling to the Abeno Harukas Museum in Osaka on 10 December 2022 and then moving to the Hangaram Art Museum in Seoul on 15 April 2023.
