Cloud Babies: a powerful new picture book collaboration by Eoin Colfer and Chris Judge to be published by Walker Books in 2022

Written by internationally best-selling author Eoin Colfer, and with illustrations from Chris Judge, Cloud Babies is a powerful story of empathy and comfort about managing illness and hardship, which has been inspired by Chris Judge’s own family experience.

“It was such a magic moment when Eoin contacted me about this book,” says Chris. “My family and I have been through a life changing experience over the last two years and I couldn’t imagine a more beautiful and special story to immerse myself in. I am a huge fan of Eoin’s so it is very exciting to get to collaborate with him, especially on such a precious book.”

Chris’s art lifts images and places from his own life to cleverly blend the everyday world of the hospital with the limitless realm of children’s imaginations, exploring a stunning art style that blends photography with illustration. He has regularly shared his cloud imagery – which also provided inspiration for the book – on his Instagram.

Recently, Chris also worked with the staff in Laura Lynn, a children’s hospice in south County Dublin, to create bright and colourful designs for their interiors. He designed 60 bespoke pieces that were cut from 9mm plywood. They were then all beautifully hand-painted and installed by the very talented team in Triskill Design.
