Cynthia Shanmugalingam & Max Halley at the National Geographic Food Festival

This weekend, we went to see two of our incredible clients – Cynthia Shanmugalingam and Max Halley – speak at the National Geographic Food Festival!

Cynthia is a British-Sri Lankan cook that has been running pop-ups and street food stalls since 2014 and is the CEO and founder of social enterprise, Kitchenette Karts – a Vietnamese street food truck and organisation training young adult ex-offenders to help kick-start their career in the food industry. In 2022, she opened her first restaurant and published her very first cookbook of the same name, Rambutan: Recipes from Sri Lanka (Bloomsbury, 2022).

Max Halley owns the restaurant that changed the sandwich: Max’s Sandwich Shop. His sandwiches have been on the cover of Esquire, Timeout, Shortlist and the front page of the Observer.  Max’s first cookbook, Max’s Sandwich Book, was a Sunday Times Top Ten Bestseller. He writes regularly for the Evening Standard and has written for the Sunday Times, the Guardian, the Observer, Vice, the Independent, the i Paper, among others.
