Books

Em Norry’s first fiction title Amber Undercover (OUP, 2019) has been selected for the Booktrust #MyBookbuzz campaign, and is also now to feature on The Reading Agency’s #SummerReadingChallenge.

Em is currently working on a broad and diverse range of projects, including Fablehouse (with Storymix), a middle grade fantasy novel which was sold on a high pre-empt to Bloomsbury and has written her first script for a top British TV show. She has previously written biographies of Nelson Mandela (Extraordinary Lives, Penguin Random House 2020) and Lionel Messi (Football Legends, Scholastic 2021), as well as short stories for Happy Here (Knights Of, 2021) and The Place For Me: Stories of the Windrush Generation (Scholastic, June 2021).

When asked about the diversity of her projects, she says: “I find in life, generally, I am happiest when I am slightly outside of my comfort zone all the time – from the people I meet to the things I read. I haven’t got any shame or embarrassment! […] I don’t believe in failure at all. I just believe that you try something or you don’t.” Dynamic, different, and full of ideas, there are definitely plenty more exciting things coming from Em in the near future.
