Ella Al-Shamahi transforms our knowledge of the traditional Viking Warrior

Ella’s brand-new series for National Geographic, Viking Warrior Women, is featured in The Guardian as revolutionising our understanding of the typically ‘bearded’ and very ‘male’ Viking fighter.

In her one-part documentary, Ella travels through Scandinavia examining ancient human remains at Viking burial sites, subverting cultural and gender norms along the way. The show utilises innovative facial recognition technology to champion the image of the female Viking Warrior.

Viking Warrior Women airs in the UK on National Geographic on 3rd December.
