James Poskett’s Horizons is shortlisted for the 2023 British Society for the History of Science Hughes Prize
Books

We are very pleased to share that James Poskett’s book, Horizons, has been shortlisted for the 2023 British Society for the History of Science Hughes Prize!

Horizons retells the history of science – 1450 to the present day – exploding the myth that science began in Europe. Moving away from those individuals usually deemed the ‘fathers of science’, James instead celebrates how scientists from Africa, America, Asia and the Pacific were integral to science’s real story: an utterly global, non-linear pattern of cross-fertilization, competition, cooperation and outright conflict.
