Marina de Pass | The Bookseller’s Rising Stars 2023
Books, Company

We are incredibly proud to announce that TSA book agent Marina de Pass has been selected as one of The Bookseller’s Rising Stars of 2023. It could not be more well deserved. We have enjoyed watching Marina’s growth and development and are full of excitement for her future in agenting.

From her profile on The Bookseller for the Rising Stars 2023 class:

Marina de Pass cut her teeth at Avon and Sphere, and while both were “invaluable schooling”, something was not quite right: “My interest was always instinctively in line with the author’s [not the publisher’s].” So in 2016, she did a Faber Academy writing course (later publishing her YA novel, The Year After You) and joined what would become The Soho Agency as an assistant, working closely with Araminta Whitley while building her own list.

De Pass’ first solo deal was in 2020 (Ali Lowe’s The Trivia Night to Hodder, with screen rights to Paramount) and since then there has been gaudy acquisitions and bestsellers galore, including Eleanor Wilkinson’s One Pot, One Portion going to Ebury in a 12-way auction and actress Nell Hudson’s hit Just for Today being snapped up by Tinder Press.

As a new-ish agent, de Pass’ list skews toward new writers, but she thinks full career, not quick hit, and cheers the recent breakthroughs of veteran authors: “I hope this continues, and that we see other authors receive similar long-term support”.

Congratulations to Marina, and to the entire 2023 Rising Stars cohort.
