Meckler’s artistic collaboration shines in Sidd: A Hero’s Journey

Esteemed director and dramaturg Nancy Meckler played a pivotal role in the world premiere of the spellbinding production of Sidd: a Hero’s Journey this spring. Partnering closely with choreographer Nicolo Fonte, Meckler acted as the ‘Artistic Collaborator’, enriching the ballet’s story, and connecting it to audiences on a profound level.

Fonte praised the collaboration, stating, “I worked closely with Nancy Meckler, who served as Artistic Collaborator on this piece. Working with Nancy not only helped me to form the synopsis for the ballet, but also to see the universality of this story, and the understanding that self-transformation and spiritual awakening can happen anywhere and everywhere. It is an inward journey manifested outwardly.”

Inspired by Hermann Hesse’s classic novel Siddhartha, this world premiere ballet, co-commissioned by BalletX and the Vilar Performing Arts Centre, mesmerised audiences with its compelling narrative and breathtaking choreography. Sidd: A Hero’s Journey, stands as a remarkable celebration of human spirituality through the unique power of dance – a true milestone in ballet’s artistic landscape.
