Hazel is a London based floral artist, teacher, and content creator whose signature style has led to work with clients including Nike, Liberty, Eve Lom and SpaceNK.
Hazels’ Grenadian mother is a gifted gardener and British father, an acclaimed academic. She holds a degree in Journalism and Broadcast from the London College of Fashion and is in the unique position to have proven experience in television production, fashion, and entrepreneurialism.
After surviving a rare cancer diagnosis in 2007, she moved from production into vintage retail and events. Her business was a fast success due to her commercial knowledge and skills in creative direction and marketing. She worked on immersive projects for brands including London Design Festival, Tate and Somerset House. During this time, she began work with the Princes’ Trust teaching business skills to young adults to support their career development.
In 2016, wanting to explore her instinctive skills for gardening and create with her hands she re-trained at McQueens Flower School in London. Hazel Gardiner Design was founded shortly after. The business had established a new narrative in floral design using sustainable principles and mix-materials.
Hazel is currently working with the RHS on initiatives to promote diversity within the industry. Her aim to create more opportunities within horticulture for the BIPOC community and inspire others by excelling in her field.
