Dr Leanne Armitage is a medical doctor, professional speaker, multi-award winning leader and co-founder of the Armitage Foundation which exists to increase diversity across UK medical schools. As a result of the work she has been doing through the Armitage Foundation Leanne was awarded the 2018 UK Queen’s Young Leaders award by Her Majesty the Queen at Buckingham Palace. In 2020 she was named a LinkedIn Top Voice and has featured on several news channels including Channel 4 News, ITV News, BBC Radio, the Sunday Telegraph, the Daily Telegraph and the Evening Standard. More recently, Leanne was recognised by the Black Cultural Archives as one of 40 black leaders from across the UK who are positively impacting the future of British society.

Leanne is an engaging and passionate speaker whose ultimate mission is to inspire and motivate audiences to be the best version of themselves by sharing the obstacles she has overcome in order to walk in her purpose. Her expertise as a speaker focuses on four key areas:

  • Diversity and inclusion – primarily focusing on increasing diversity within the medical field from entry to medical school, all the way through the system to leadership level.
  • Diversity and inclusion from a cross sectoral perspective with a particular focus on highlighting the issues faced by people from black and minority ethnic backgrounds, low socioeconomic backgrounds and women.
  • Raising aspirations, particularly for those from disadvantaged backgrounds or who might struggle with low self-esteem.
  • Self-development, with a focus on overcoming challenges, developing a sense of purpose or direction, developing resilience and taking action.
